Grief Counseling in Niagara Falls
Grief and pain manifest themselves in many forms but both contain one consistent feature: they can leave you feeling hopeless, in emotional pain and helplessly alone. Whether you have just endured the death of a loved one, a marriage break-up or have recently lost your job unexpectedly, grief can emanate from many different facets of your life and can feel you leaving devoid of hope and optimism. That is where we come in.
Sandra Elsley Individual Marriage & Family Counselling has provided an unrivalled client-centered grief counseling service to the residents of Niagara Falls and surrounding areas for over three decades. Our dedicated and empathetic approach has helped individuals and families across Niagara Falls come to the terms with the emotional toll while also helping them make the necessary adjustments to reduce and eventually eradicate grief from their lives altogether.
How Do You Deal with Grief and Loss?
When we experience heartbreaking loss such as the death of a partner, a family member or a friend it can be very difficult to see how life will ever be the same again. This is a normal reaction and one that almost every Niagara Falls individual who has contacted our professional grief counseling team has experienced.
At Sandra Elsley Individual Marriage & Family Counselling, we pride ourselves on running an honest grief counseling clinic. That is why when faced with the question of ‘how do you deal with grief and loss?’ we reiterate the fact that there is no quick-fix, one fits all panacea that can eradicate grief completely in a short-time frame. Instead, our holistic engaging and collaborative approach to grief counseling seeks to mend the emotional wounds that have been created from the deep-felt loss in your life and to do so in as sensitive and comforting manner as possible. This client-specific approach will differ considerably from person to person and is a slow process that requires commitment and will power from all parties, but progress can be made.
Our Approach to Grief Counseling
Each experience of grief is unique, complex and personal and, as such, requires a specific treatment plan that best meets each person’s individual needs and wants. At Sandra Elsley Individual Marriage & Family Counselling our grief counselors will tailor a plan that best meets your respective requirements. This will often include individual, one on one based treatments such as expressive, interpersonal and gestalt therapies that will help the person experiencing grief find ways of creating different paths to maintain healthy and meaningful connections with the deceased person through memory, reflection or dialogue with and about the deceased.
Like all the treatments we provide, we always encourage our clients and patients to avail of as many varied therapies as possible. This is why in addition to the individual therapies mentioned above we also suggest that those suffering with grief also partake in a weekly session of group or family counseling sessions. Studies show that these type of sessions can help the grief-stricken patient find solace and positivity from the reciprocal sharing of thoughts and feelings expressed by others who are enduring similar loss.
